'It's not you, it's me. I just need to focus on my career right now.' AKA the most annoying break-up line of all time. Yet most of us have either heard it before or said it ourselves. The truth is, relationships are time consuming at the best of times, so what happens when you're both focused on full on careers that mean out-of-hours emails, working weekends and going on long trips abroad? Well, Jennifer Lawrence appears to have the solution. The actress has starred in more than 10 films over the past couple of years and still managed to hold down a steady relationship with fellow actor Nicholas Hoult. Rather than get angry because Nick hasn't picked up her Skype call or worrying that he'll be upset because she's not had time to send him a Snapchat selfie, Jen says they've agreed to 'mutually ignore each other' during busy work periods. 'Neither of us gets mad when the other doesn't text back or call,' she says. 'Life's super-busy. Obviously you know what they're doing, and you trust them. At least this way he's in the same boat as I am: We can go out and have our own lives and know that we have each other.' Obviously, one of the best things about being in a relationship is knowing there's someone at the end of the phone ready to comfort you when you're sobbing into a ready meal after a horrendous day. So can a relationship really survive without regular communication? Keeping in touch via technology is one of the key parts of modern dating. Now that we can chat all the time if we want to, not bothering could signify that you don't really care about your partner or visa versa. But then again, surely a truly supportive partner is one who understands when you need space and doesn't lose the plot when you forget to call back. What do you think?
