AND ANOTHER THING...
Is this the end of ageism?
This week, Jessica Lange, the 64-year-old iconic Oscar winning actress and star of 'American Horror Story' was announced as the star of Marc Jacobs' latest beauty campaign. On the same day, Nars announced 68-year-old Charlotte Rampling as its new face. At the Rick Owens show in Paris, older models walked the runway, on American Apparel's billboards 62-year-old model Jacky O'Shaughnessy and her enviable long grey locks replaced the teenage girls. With the LA Times reporting that there's been a surge in demand for older models - is age discrimination finally on its way to the history books?

If we're honest, probably not. But it's all definitely a good start, says Pam Lucas, the 63-year-old world-renowned supermodel and former face of Illamasqua. Speaking to Grazia she says. "As it stands, it's all too easy to fade into the background when you get older, but for the first time, I feel hopeful that something is happening and the way we see age is changing.'

Of course, the older women featured are mostly still extraordinarily thin, beautiful, with striking features. And, despite the flurry of enthusiasm for the more mature model this week, in context it really is just a drop in the ocean.

But still, we're optimistic. And so is Pam. Off to scout for cool looking 'Glam-ma's' at Brentcross this weekend, she says: "Of course, there's a lot to do but this is a great start. It's much more interesting when you have a balance of young and older women in the public eye – after all, style only gets better with age." We couldn't agree more. Grey, it seems, is definitely the new black…
